Hashtag hacks! Beloved hashtag hacks!

Hashtags…we love them, we hate them…we need them!

Here are some age old tips for increasing your hashtag game:

1. You can (and probably should) use up to 30 hashtags per post! Max exposure baybeeee

If you use all 30 hashtags on every post, then you will reach so many more people than you would by just adding 5 or 10 hashtags. They are SO useful—I can’t tell you how many of my clients have found my through hashtags. USE ALL OF THEM!

2. It’s best to put your hashtags in the comments

This is so that people that use screen readers don’t have to suffer through listening to Siri list out all of your hashtags. This isn’t SUPER important, but more so just considerate!

3. Use niche specific, location specific, and job specific hashtags!

For example, I’m a ig/pinterest manager that wants to work with wedding photographers from LA, PNW, and AZ, so I would use hashtags that reflect all of those things (pin management, IG management, wedding photography, LA, PNW, and AZ!)

4. Do your hashtag research and come up with a strategy! Don’t just use random hashtags!

Hashtag research is SO important. You don’t want to just throw random hashtags onto your post because it could actually LOWER your reach. Instagram is smart and if they realize that you’re using hashtags that have nothing to do with your post, they’ll bump your post down to the bottom of your audiences feed.

5. Use medium to low density hashtags to increase your reach!

Don’t use viral hashtags if you’re a new account! Using hashtags with 1 million + daily uses will not do anything for your post! So many people use those hashtags that the likelihood of your post getting to the top of the hashtag explore page is SO low. Use lower density hashtags so that you can easily reach the top of those hashtag pages!
